Reflexology is a natural, regenerative therapy for body, mind and spirit.
Both an art and a science, it is based on the principle there are reflexes in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems in a natural, non invasive and positive way.
Using the original Ingham Method, specific techniques are applied to the reflex points on the feet and /or hands thus improving circulation, lymphatic drainage and energy flow. Subsequently, the body relaxes, and the organs and glands come into balance. The skilled application of these precise techniques affects not only the physiological, but treats the whole person, thereby stimulating the body’s own healing potential.
Reflexology is a unique modality in the health field, not to be confused with foot massage. Its purpose is not to diagnose any specific medical disorder, but to promote better health and well being.
Your health is your wealth.
Following treatment, I recommend drinking plenty of water as this will help hydrate the body, flush out toxins and improve energy levels. Try to rest as this will help the treatment work to its full potential, as will avoiding stimulants such as tea, coffee and alcohol.
During, or after, a treatment you may experience a physical or emotional reaction. Most people note a sense of well-being, deep relaxation and improved sleep; sometimes people report feeling lethargic or a little achey but this is transitory and is part of the healing process.
Sometimes stronger reactions are experienced such as cold/flu like symptoms or frequent urination and bowel movements. These are positive reactions as your body rebalances itself. They are temporary, however if the symptoms persist then you should assume that the cause is independent of Reflexology and you should consult your physician.
An initial consultation and treatment may last up to 1 ¼ HOUR
This allows time to discuss your medical history, general lifestyle and any presenting symptoms you may be experiencing.
Subsequent treatments are usually an hour, but for children, or anyone chronically ill treatments may be shorter and more frequent.
With all sessions, the treatment is tailored to the individual.
If you would like more information on what to expect please look at the IIR here.
Reflexology is safe for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly, for pregnant women and those undergoing conventional treatment such as chemotherapy.*
Whilst Reflexology works very well alongside conventional treatment, it should not be used in place of seeking professional medical advice.
*Reflexology is not suitable for those suffering with Phlebitis, DVT, or anyone with infectious conditions of the feet.
